40|86 Management

Eric Johnson was appointed chief investment officer of CNO Financial Group and president of 40|86 Advisors, Inc. in September 2003. Johnson joined CNO in 1997 and has served as an officer of the company since 1998. Johnson has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services and investment field. Before joining CNO, Johnson served as senior vice president for NatWest Capital Markets, a division of The NatWest Bank Group. In that position, he was responsible for various fixed-income investment activities.

As Chief Information Officer (CIO) for 40|86 Advisors, Inc. Richard Burke is responsible for management and development of the firm’s systems solutions and back office operations. This includes infrastructure, application development, analysis, design and implementation of reporting, reconciliation and trading systems. Prior to joining 40|86 Advisors, he worked for AT&T/NCR Europe Group. Burke holds a B.S. in business with a concentration in computer information systems from Indiana University.

Jess Horsfall heads our Portfolio Management group. Horsfall graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. in finance and a minor in economics.

Zandra M. de Haai directs our fixed-income research activities and will contribute to our overall investment strategy process. de Haai has extensive asset management experience, with a focus on portfolio management, financial planning, and trading. Most recently, she was a Senior Director of Product Management for S&P Dow Jones Indices. She has also held positions at companies such as Plum Street Advisors, Intercontinental Exchange (Formerly Interactive Data Corp.), and at Mellon Capital Management.

Andy Aiello oversees commercial mortgage lending activities at 40|86 Advisors. Prior to joining the firm in 2011, he held senior level commercial mortgage origination positions at both Prudential Mortgage Capital Company and Walker & Dunlop. Aiello holds a BBA degree in real estate and urban land economics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Eduardo Piedra oversees leveraged loans and CLO activities for 40|86 Advisors, Inc. Prior to joining 40|86 Advisors, Inc. in February 2007, he was the Director of Research and Portfolio Manager of Baker Street Asset Management, a unit of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey since its establishment in June of 2005. He also held various positions in the Capital Markets and Client Management areas of SunTrust Bank’s Corporate and Investment Banking division since 1996. He holds a B.B.A degree in finance and a B.A. degree in liberal studies from Florida International University and holds an M.B.A. from Emory University.

Jerimy Horner oversees mortgage and asset backed security activities for 40|86 Advisors, Inc. Prior to joining 40|86 Advisors, Inc. in December 1999, he was a Portfolio Analyst at Wells Fargo Asset Management. He has held various positions at 40|86, primarily within the Portfolio Management Group. He holds a B.S. degree in finance from Ball State University.
